United Way Workplace Campaign has been called one of the greatest social inventions in American history. Working together with local employers, our United Way invites people to improve the lives of children and families, and create opportunities for a better life for all through volunteering and participating in the annual giving campaign.
The United Way Campaign is really about what the dollars raised mean to our community and the local impact of gifts directed to United Way. It represents the generosity of a diverse community coming together to create measurable, lasting change and a better place to live and work for us all. The real success is not always measured by the number of programs and initiatives funded, but by the number of lives improved. This is a community coming together to truly LIVE UNITED.
In 2014, 400 area workplaces and more than 25,000 people participated in the United Way Campaign – the largest United Way annual fundraising effort in Connecticut and the second largest in New England – to create real change in our 40-town region. With the outstanding support of loyal contributors and workplace partners, we raised more than $24 million for our community. This included contributions from 2,500 Leadership Investors, each generously giving $1,000 or more to the campaign.
United Way’s remarkable workplace partners are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of local children and families. This is evident in the partners’ passion and creativity through special events and more to benefit our community through United Way.
Participating in the campaign is an excellent way to raise your organization’s public profile and build team spirit among your employees. And United Way makes it easy—with staff support, customizable materials, online pledging options, and exciting ideas for employee participation. What’s more, as a business leader, you can rest assured knowing that contributions to the United Way Campaign are invested carefully by a network of experienced volunteers, in programs that produce results on our region’s highest priorities.
