Community Investment Volunteers
United Way looks at the big picture and invests in programs and initiatives that help build a strong foundation for families in our community.
A good education is essential to getting a good job. An income that can cover today’s needs and save for tomorrow solidifies a family’s foundation. Good health helps children succeed at school and enables adults to be productive at work. It’s all CONNECTED.
To help. each year, United Way recruits and trains volunteers to review and evaluate specific programs, services and initiatives of nonprofit partners who receive United Way Community Investment funding. They are monitored by the experienced, knowledgeable volunteers who ensure that donor contributions are well-spent to produce real results and that effective management, governance, and financial accountability standards are upheld by United Way Community Partners.
Volunteer assessment includes alignment with United Way community goals, past performance and future plans, and whether the organizations adhere to accepted nonprofit standards in management, governance and fiscal accountability. Volunteer evaluation and feedback helps to inform the recommendation to the Board of Directors how to invest United Way Community Investment funding.
